High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Greater Israel is a controversial expression with several different Biblical and political meanings over time. Currently, the most common definition of the land encompassed by the term is the territory of the State of Israel together with the Palestinian territories. Other earlier definitions, favored by Revisionist Zionism, included the territory of the former British Mandate of Palestine (with or without Transjordan, which developed independently after 1923). Other religious uses refer to one of the Biblical definitions of the Land of Israel found in Genesis 15:18-21, Numbers 34:1-15 or Ezekiel 47:13-20. Currently in Israel, in the debate relating to the borders of Israel, "Greater Israel" is generally used to refer to the territory of the State of Israel and the Palestinian territories, the territory of the former British Mandate of Palestine. However, because of the controversial nature of the term, the ill-defined term Land of Israel is used.

Martin David Kahane also known as Meir Kahane , and by the pen-names Benyac and David Sinai and the pseudonym Michael King, 1 August 1932 5 November 1990) was an American-Israeli rabbi and ultra-nationalist writer and political figure. He was an ordained Orthodox rabbi and later served as a member of the Israeli parliament or Knesset. Kahane was known in the United States and Israel for political and religious views that included proposing emergency Jewish mass-immigration to Israel due to the imminent threat of a "second Holocaust" in the United States, advocating that Israel's secular democracy be replaced by a state modeled on Jewish religious law, and promoting the idea of a Greater Israel in which Israel would annex the West Bank and Gaza strip. In order to keep Arabs, whom he stated would never accept Israel as a Jewish state, from demographically destroying Israel, he proposed paying Arabs to leave Israel and those territories voluntarily, and forcibly removing those who would not. Kahane founded both the Jewish Defense League (JDL) in the USA and Kach ("This is the Way!"), an Israeli political party.

Diaspora and Belonging: Black Jewish Americans ...
68,00 € *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

This book explores the relationship that Black American Jews have with the state of Israel, and claims that for some Black Jews who are marginalized within the greater American Jewish community, close ties to Israel can increase their legitimacy. This project posits that social positionality can shape identity formation and examines perspectives of individuals who experience different levels of marginalization in order to examine how an individual's social position in the diaspora can affect that person's connection to a homeland. The extent of a Black Jewish person's marginalization in the United States depends on a number of factors including one's synagogue or the origins of ones ties to Judaism. While there is a continuum of experiences and identities within the diverse Black Jewish community, generally those individuals who are most marginalized in the United States tend to identify most strongly with Israel as their homeland.
