On Homogeneous and Composite Cylindrical Pressu...
39,90 € *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

Over the last few decades, pressure vessels applications have been increased simultaneously with advanced production technology methods alongside development of various composite and homogeneous materials. This book, therefore provides a review including parametric design investigation of composite and homogeneous cylindrical pressure vessels. Moreover, it also includes examination of body forces effect on FGM and non-FGM pressure vessels for plastic-elastic states. This text book should assist engineers and researchers who specialize in composite materials, especially in the context of pressure vessels. However, the book is based on two main studies that have been published previously in the WSEAS Transactions on Applied and Theoretical Mechanics Journal and during the Proceedings of the 54th Israel Annual Conference on Aerospace Sciences.

Arab American

An Arab American is a United States citizen or resident of Arab cultural and linguistic heritage and/or identity. Arab Americans trace ancestry to any of the various waves of immigrants of the countries comprising the Arab World. Americans descended from immigrants of the Arab world via other countries are also included. Countries of origin for Arab Americans include Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt in North Africa, and Lebanon, Syria, Palestine (Gaza Strip and West Bank, plus Arab Israelis within what is Israel), Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait in West Asia. Sudan and other countries where Arabic is an official language as a consequence of their membership in the Arab League, but where it is not the majority spoken vernacular, are not included. Arab Americans are neither a homogeneous ethnicity nor a racial group. Arab Americans, and Arabs in general, comprise a highly diverse amalgam of groups with differing ancestral origins, religious backgrounds and historic identities. Instead, the ties that bind are a shared heritage by virtue of common linguistic, cultural, and political traditions.

Jews and Muslims in Contemporary Spain
55,95 € *

The book analyzes the place of religious difference in late modernity through a study of the role played by Jews and Muslims in the construction of contemporary Spanish national identity. The focus is on the transition from an exclusive, homogeneous sense of collective Self toward a more pluralistic, open and tolerant one in an European context. This process is approached from different dimensions. At the national level, it follows the changes in nationalist historiography, the education system and the public debates on national identity. At the international level, it tackles the problem from the perspective of Spanish foreign policy towards Israel and the Arab-Muslim states in a changing global context. From the social-communicational point of view, the emphasis is on the construction of the Self–Other dichotomy (with Jewish and Muslim others) as reflected in the three leading Spanish newspapers.

The Handbook of Homogeneous Hydrogenation, 3 Vo...
740,00 CHF *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

This multi-volume handbook is the first to cover all questions concerning homogeneous hydrogenation. As such, it presents the catalysts, the scope of their application, mechanistic aspects, asymmetric methods, combinatorials catalysis, recycling methods and industrial examples. In 45 clearly structured chapters, the book includes all hydrogenation reactions catalyzed by soluble transition metal-based catalysts. All authors adopt an applied approach, emphasizing those aspects important for industrial use. With some 2,000 illustrations and 50 tables, this is a must-have for everyone working in the chemicals and pharmaceutical industries, as well as for graduate students, post-docs and faculty in chemistry. Kees Elsevier is Professor for Molecular Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Amsterdam. He took up the John van Geuns chair (for 4 years) and was visting professor at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, and the Universities of Strasbourg and Toulouse (France). He has lately focused on Pd-catalyzed hydrogenations, involving N-ligands and N-heterocyclic carbenes, as well as catalysis involving aggregates (micelles and vesicles) of metallo-amphiphiles. Kees serves on the advisory board of several scientific journals and he is scientific director of the Holland Research School of Molecular Chemistry. He has published more than 180 articles. Hans de Vries is Principal Scientist Homogeneous Catalysis for Fine Chemicals at DSM, a multinational specialty chemicals company. After a PhD from University of Groningen his next carrier steps were a postdoctoral stint at Brandeis University, Waltham, USA with Jim Hendrickson, and an employment at Sandoz in Vienna and in London. Besides he has been appointed professor at the University of Groningen, a visiting industrial professor at the Univeristy of Bristol, and at the Université Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg. His research interests are in the area of asymmetric hydrogenation, combinations of enzymes with transition metal catalysis, and more. He is author of many patents and over 100 publications.
