The Lost Books of the Old Testament: The Histor...

The Bible is the most famous book in the world, read by a countless number of Christians and others over the centuries. Even those who aren’t Christian or remotely religious can rattle off Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John as the first four gospels of the New Testament, and books like "Genesis" and "Exodus" include some of the most famous stories in human history. The study of the apocryphal gospels, documents about the life or sayings of Jesus that did not become part of the New Testament, is a popular discipline among scholars that now fills several shelves of any respectable library. However, few consider the question of whether the Old Testament, also known as the Hebrew Bible, is "complete" and whether in antiquity there were other books besides "Genesis", the "Exodus" or "Judges", with different histories and unknown characters, that were excluded from the canon and got lost in the sands of time. Most assume the great saga of Israel, beginning with the pastoral stories of the patriarchs, the epic of the Exodus, and the conquest of the Promised Land, until the court of King David, is a compact, complete, and unique story. In its current form, it seems to start from the beginning, and as such, it was accepted by all in antiquity, but did someone in ancient Israel write other renditions?Recent archaeological and textual discoveries have revealed that literary production among the people of Israel before the life of Jesus was much more extensive and varied than previously supposed. The earliest Christian and Jewish exegetes were aware of some texts whose status was imprecise. Did the books of Tobit, Maccabees, and Judith belong to Israel's sacred scriptures or not? What happened to certain books that are mentioned in the Bible but have not been found, such as stories about the court of King David, the Annals of Solomon, a Book of Jasher, and prominently, the Book of Wars of the Lord? There is another group of books that arouses s 1. For most of the last 2,000 years, questions about the figure of Jesus have begun with the Gospels, but the Gospels themselves raise puzzling questions about both Jesus and the religious movement within which these narratives were produced. Is it possible to shape a single picture from the various accounts of his life given us by these Gospels? This far-ranging course examines not only the canonical Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John familiar to us from the New Testament, but also the many other, apocryphal narratives and literary works that have contributed to our perceptions of Jesus, Mary, and Christianity - all of which are encompassed by the word "Gospel." In these 36 engaging lectures, you'll discover the human Jesus that underlies many portraits we have. After introducing you to the era's volatile mixture of Mediterranean culture, Greek ideals and realities, Roman governance, and the religion of Israel, Professor Johnson turns to the Gospels and provides close analyses of key lines of text, explanations of the significance of language and terminology, and overviews of important issues with which scholars have long grappled. You'll learn about the different issues of faith each Gospel emphasizes, as well as the real-world logistics of spreading that faith during the early Christian era. But it is the figure addressed by the Gospels who dominates these lectures, sometimes in ways less familiar than the portrayals of Jesus we most often encounter. Beyond the portrayal in the synoptic gospels, you'll study what the apocryphal narratives have to say about the childhood of Jesus. Among other things, you'll also learn about the source of Roman Catholicism's doctrine of Mary and examine the 2nd century faith of Gnosticism. Jesus Christ Of Nazareth Was A Victim Of Fake N...

Be not deceived. I do believe that the Bible Jesus Christ truly existed but the King James Bible version of his existence proved he never existed. Based on what is actually written in the King James Bible version, Jesus was born at least four years before Christ at the time of Herod. The same Bible in the gospel of Luke in the third chapter recorded that this same Jesus began to turn thirty years old in the fifteen year of Tiberius Caesar. This is impossible because anyone born at the time of Herod will be twenty five years old in the fifteenth year of Tiberius Caesar, not thirty years old. To claim Jesus was born at the time of Time is Ceasar is to admit the Jesus was not born at the time of Herod. To admit that Jesus was not born at the time of Herod is to state that the whole Jesus birth story of Herod killing the infant ts is a lie. That is not all. The same Bible credited the mother of Jesus with two husbands with same name called Joseph. The first Joseph husband of Mary was recorded as Joseph the son Jacob in the gospel of Matthew while the second Joseph husband of Mary was recorded as Joseph the son of Heli in the gospel according to Luke. If you think this was a mistake. You are mistaken. Both Joseph husbands of aryl had two different father, grand fathers and ancestors down to Abraham. Another problem with the bible record of Jesus in the King James Bible version is the fact that he was called Jesus of Nazareth. Nazareth never existed anywhere in the bible or in Israel before, during and after the birth and life time of Jesus. The real Jesus was a Nazarene, not a Nazarite or a citizen of Nazareth. Bible Jesus of Nazareth was made up fake news. Based on what is written in the Bible and in the book Sex And Nudity Does Not Make Anyone Good Or Bad, Jesus was the son of a single mother who dated two 'Joseph' guys before being made pregnant by a third guy called messenger of God ( Angel) Gabriel whose name means MAN of God, not spirit of God. Unlike the lies that you heard about Jesus, he was NOT Jesus of Nazareth. He was Jesus the Nazarene. Nazareth is an invented geographic name which never existed in the Israelites before and during Jesus birth, life and death. The Nazarene was an ancient Middle East and African religion which existed in Israel with the Pharisees, Sadducees, the Herodians, the Zealots before Jesus was born and during his life time, until men invented the name Nazareth to hide the fact that Jesus was a Nazarene.

On the heels of the New York Times best-selling Dead Shot comes the most thrilling installment of the Kyle Swanson series yet, in which an attempt at a new peace in the Middle East is shattered by an unknown attacker, and only Swanson can find out who's responsible. At a 15th-century castle outside Edinburgh, Scotland, Sir Geoffrey Cornwell is brokering an unprecedented agreement. Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and the Israeli foreign minister are scheduled to sign a historic peace treaty - that is until their meeting is violently interrupted by a missile strike that leaves the foreign minister of Israel dead and Cornwell and the prince injured. Gunnery Sergeant Kyle Swanson is running covert missions in the mountains of Pakistan when he's called away from duty. He leaves for the UK, where he thwarts another attempt on the prince of Saudi Arabia's life. The attackers are Middle Eastern, but they aren't working for Al Qaeda - they're employed by foreign operatives opposed to the peace agreement and determined to claim Saudi oil reserves for themselves by whatever means necessary. Meanwhile, out of hiding and back from the dead comes Juba, one of the deadliest terrorists in the world and Kyle Swanson's nemesis, who is determined to exact revenge on the man who nearly took his life. With scenes of tremendous suspense that span the globe, Clean Kill puts Swanson in the sights of a group whose greed and vengeance know no limits. But their deadly ambitions also bring them into his sights, which is the wrong place to be. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Luke Daniels. The Acts of the Apostles is the second part of St Luke=s work and thus needs to be read with the same expectations that are already raised in the prologue, Luke 1.1&4: this is an educated member of a contemporary movement who is writing for an equally educated audience with an interest in the topic. It is about the story of God with Israel, which has entered a critical phase through Jesus of Nazareth, and about the resulting Jesus movement and its spread. The material is intended to make an appeal to readers that is just as existentially significant as it was to the first listeners to the missionary speeches reported in it. It is not a comprehensive historical narrative either temporally or geographically, but the Biblical author wants to go beyond mere hearsay and provide reliable information. Haacker comments on St Luke=s text with philological tact and with informative insights into the way in which the Biblical texts are embedded in history.
