This book summarizes a Ph.D dissertation carried out at the Water Resources Center of the Jacob Blaustein Institute for Desert Research and Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. The aim of this work was to evaluate the potential recharge in arid rocky watersheds containing bare rock at the upper part of the slope and colluvium/alluvium fills in the lower parts. The book presents three independent methods for study including a study of isotopic composition evolution from rainfall to runoff. Rainfall waters were collected in high resolution 1- 2 mm serial samples. Runoff water was sampled every 5 min. Two types of rainstorms were distinguished isotopically. The 1-D mathematical model simulates the transport of 18O evolution of rainfall into runoff with uniformly distributed shallow depression storage. This book also deals with subsurface flow in the unsaturated zone using sodium bromide as a tracer, and neutron probe measurements following yearly changes in soil moisture content. This book is designed for researchers and students using environmental tracers to get a better understanding of the hydrologic system.

He was a hard-working small business owner, an Army veteran, an attentive lover, and a doting father. But he was also something more, something sinister. A master of deception, he was a rapist, arsonist, and bank robber, and a new breed of serial killer, one who studied other killers to perfect his craft. He methodically buried kill-kits containing his tools of murder years before returning to reclaim them. Viewing the entire country as his hunting grounds, he often flew across the country to distant locations where he would rent a car and drive hundreds or even thousands of miles before randomly selecting his victims. Such were the methods and madness of serial killer Israel Keyes. Such were the demands of the Devil in the Darkness. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Don Kline. Israel Keyes was an American serial killer who was active from approximately 2001 to his capture in 2012. He was known for his extreme attention to detail, his patience, and his discipline in selecting targets that lived far away from him. He was also meticulous in disposing of his victim's bodies as authorities have not uncovered any other evidence that Keyes did not provide. Keyes killed several victims across the United States and was finally caught in 2012 after he uncharacteristically deviated from his modus operandi and hatched a plan to collect a ransom from his last victim's family. Keyes was known to go to extreme lengths to hide his involvement in these murders, including driving across the country in rental cars, while using nothing but cash and removing the batteries from his cell phones in order to evade detection. He would have gone on killing and killing until one night he made one mistake.... 1. Language: English. Narrator: Susan Scher. That man is fortunate who has the world against him.Israel Rank has many advantages and qualities which should enable an ordinary man to get through life quite successfully. But he's not content to be an ordinary man. He's a distant heir to the Gascoyne earldom, and he will not rest until he inherits it, lock, stock and barrel. One tiny problem: he must kill everyone in line before him, without getting caught. The result is an evergreen classic of blackly comic crime fiction.First published in 1907 as 'Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal', the novel is probably best known as inspiration for the classic Ealing comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets, frequently voted one of the greatest British films ever. The novel itself remains a remarkably fresh satire that reverses conventional morality - a sympathetic comedy about a serial killer.'A superb thriller, but also a disturbing study in human nature. The narrative pace never slackens, thanks to the spareness and elegance of Horniman's prose . . . (the novel is) over all too quickly.' Simon Heffer

It begins when the strangely marked body of a young prostitute is found just outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. A similarly disfigured corpse of an American nun turns up. Then an Arab boy. As the list of victims grows, their only apparent connection is the bizarre markings on their bodies, it appears that Israel is facing its first serial murder case. David Bar-Lev, chief of the Pattern Crimes Unit of the Jerusalem police, is not so sure. A tough yet sensitive investigator with a powerful intelligence and a querying mind, he begins searching for a pattern that will explain the apparently random killings. At first the disorder is overwhelming, the case unfathomable. But then, as David probes deeper into this particular pattern crime, he is not so sure he wants to understand it. Pieces emerge that suggest that this time the key may lie within his own life. During the course of his investigation he must uncover and confront many painful secrets: The mysterious behavior of his father, Avraham, a retired psychoanalyst; The tragic suicide of his brother, Gideon, a talented fighter pilot; The hidden past of his beautiful Russian lover, the cellist Anna; And the possibility of corruption within the Jerusalem police and the ultra-secret General Security Services (Shin Bet). But despite the pain of these and other revelations, David probes on until he finally glimpses his astonishing solution - for, as one cop says of David Bar-Lev, "It is not enough for him to investigate. David has to understand." The Jerusalem of Pattern Crimes is not the idealized Holy City of the guidebooks. Depicted as the capital of an angry, anguished, torn-up nation, a city of prostitutes, narcotics dealers, lusting journalists, ruthless politicians, and zealots of every stripe, it becomes here an arena for a remarkable story of crime and punishment. This is a book about patterns – in love, in rel 1. Language: English. Narrator: Dick Hill. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/000172/bk_acx0_000172_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.

Bury your enemies, and bury them deep. John Milton thought he was done with Avi Bachman. The most dangerous man he's ever known has been incarcerated in Angola, the brutal Louisiana prison. Inmates rarely leave Angola. Once you go in, the only way out is in a box. But Bachman is no ordinary prisoner. He was an assassin for the Mossad, and he has favours to call in. Milton is in the Australian outback with an old friend and his flirtatious kid sister, looking for a summer’s peace to put his troubled mind to rest. But Bachman has other plans. He thinks that Milton killed his wife, and now he wants revenge. From Australia to Israel, from Hong Kong to Croatia, here is the conclusion of this brutal chapter in Milton’s life. The two headhunters are on a collision course, and only one of them will walk away. Don’t start this audiobook in bed - you will lose sleep. Mark Dawson has worked as a lawyer and currently works in the London film industry. His first books, The Art of Falling Apart and Subpoena Colada have been published in multiple languages. He is currently writing three series. The John Milton series features a disgruntled assassin who aims to help people to make amends for the things he has done. The Beatrix Rose series features the headlong fight for justice of a wronged mother - who happens to be an assassin - against the six names on her kill list. Soho Noir is set in the West End of London between 1940 and 1970. The first book in the series, The Black Mile, deals with the (real-life but little-known) serial killer who operated in the area during the Blitz. The Imposter traces the journey of a criminal family through the period; it has been compared to The Sopranos in austerity London. 1. Language: English. Narrator: David Thorpe.
